Mark Nightingale has been at the forefront of the British jazz scene for several decades and has earned a reputation as one of the top-flight jazz trombonists in Europe and worldwide. As leader/composer/arranger he has fronted and recorded with ensembles of all sizes, picking up many awards along the way. Mark can be found on CD with international jazz artists such as James Morrison, Ray Brown, Jeff Hamilton, Clark Terry and Scott Hamilton, whilst in the UK he has had longstanding musical associations with John Dankworth and Cleo Laine, Stan Tracey, Kenny Wheeler and Alan Barnes amongst others. Outside of jazz, Mark has played with greats such as Frank Sinatra, Sting, Steeley Dan and Henry Mancini, and he is also one of London’s first-call studio musicians.

As a writer, Mark’s personal knowledge of brass instruments has seen him receive specialist commissions from groups such as LSO Brass, The New Trombone Collective, London Brass and a wide variety of big bands Europe-wide. His compositions have been featured at various International Trombone Festivals, and on radio with the BBC Big Band. Mark has had a long association with Warwick Music Ltd since their inception in the 1990’s and many of his pieces and studies have been taken up by the music examination boards (ABRSM, Trinity and Guildhall) for use in their syllabi.
