David Bertie began his musical studies aged 11 under the tutelage of trombonist John Butt. David served in the British Army as a musician for 24 years and is now a professional musician working in the South West of England.

David is a prolific trumpet player and qualified teacher specialising in whole class teaching of brass instruments. He has devised a method of teaching the skill of reading music using Lego © blocks which evolves over two terms into manuscript.

David is a graduate of the Open University, a Fellow in Trumpet Performance of the Trinity College, London and a winner of the Worshipful Company of Musicians’ Silver Medal having studied with the late trumpet virtuoso John Wilbraham, John Hardy (Principal Cornet of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden), Peter Turnbull (Principal Trumpet of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra) and most recently with American trumpeter Jeff Purtle.
