Maurice Davies holds the LRSM and LTCL diplomas in piano performance. He is a piano teacher at Lincoln Minster School and is pianist at John Leggott Sixth Form College. He has sung in and played for numerous choirs; he is currently pianist for the Isle Choral Singers and is involved as composer, pianist, and singer with the Isle Chamber Choir. He is a regular performer at the Allegro Appassionato concert series in Louth and the Saturday morning recital series at Wesley Memorial Church in Epworth which he founded in 2022.

His early compositions include a Flute Sonata and a Clarinet Fantasia. More recent pieces include an Organ Sonata (listen to it on YouTube) and an Alto Saxophone Sonata (also on YouTube). A revival of his choral piece The Promise saw it taken up by four choirs. In 2019 he was commissioned to write a choral piece, A Song for Brigg. Due to be premiered in 2020, days before the first lockdown, it was finally performed in 2023. During the 18-month period of the pandemic with its lockdowns and lack of live music opportunities he made online contacts with two outstanding brass students and wrote several pieces for various combinations of trumpet and euphonium. These were all performed online and are now all published, the solo trumpet pieces by Sound The Trumpets/ June Emerson; the other pieces are published by Warwick Music. He also wrote over 50 short piano pieces which he delves into now for solos, and a set of pieces for violin and piano, Snapshots, first performed in 2022.
