Vicent Egea

J. VIcent Egea graduated in Trumpet, Composition, Choral and Orchestral Conducting Conservatory of San Sebastian, Spain. He received a Certificate of Advanced Studies for Orchestral Conducting from the Royal Academy of Music in London, made possible with a scholarship from Banco de España and the RAM. Also he was the first "special student" to graduate in Conducting at the Manhattan School of Music in New York.

He has studied composition with A.G.Acilu, R.Barce, G.Brincic, Manzoni, Gentilucci, L.Nono, L. de Pablo, C.Halffter, T.Marco, Elliot Carter, George Benjamin, and D.Noon.

As a composer he won the prizes "Fernando Remacha", I Premio Internacional para masas corales de Tolosa, "Premio de Honor" Conservatorio de S.Sebastián, 1st and 2nd prize "Jóvenes Creadores" Ayuntamiento de Madrid, "Internacional Gobierno de Navarra" in 1992-98 and 2000, "Amando Blanquer" in 1991-94-98, "Internacional Jóvenes Compositores" in Leipzig 1995, ‘"Joaquin Turina" 1998, etc.

His works have been commisioned by: Gobierno de Navarra; Ayuntamiento de Pamplona; Generalitat Valenciana; CDMC; AIE; Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra; Auditorio Baluarte; Ayuntamiento de Valencia, Asociación Ópera de Cámara de Navarra, Diputación de Alicante; 36•International Horn Symposium-Valencia 2004, IVM, Fundación Autor - AEOS, Spanish Brass - Luur Metalls and many have been awarded and performed in music festivals in Europe, America and Asia.

As a conductor he has directed the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, Grupo LIM, Sax-Ensemble, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Real Filarmonía de Galicia, Solistas de la Orquesta titular del Teatro Real (Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid), etc. He also conducted several CD recordings.

VIcent Egea currently serves as professor and conductor of the Wind Band and Symphony Orchestra of the Pablo Saraste Superior Conservatoire of Navarre. In addition, he is a professor at the Musikene Superior Music Centre in the Basque region, resident conductor of the Pamplona Municipal Band, and a composer and guest conductor with various groups and orchestras.
