Ryan Linham | Warwick Music Composers

Ryan Linham, a distinguished trumpet player, graduated with First Class Honours as a Foundation Scholar from the Royal College of Music, London, in 2014. He immediately secured a trumpet position with the New European Ensemble in The Hague and has since established a vibrant freelance career in the UK. Ryan has performed as a guest Principal Trumpet with prestigious ensembles such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and London Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also participated in trials for principal trumpet positions with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Ulster Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. His dedication to contemporary music sees him regularly performing with ensembles like the London Sinfonietta and Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.

Beyond performance, Ryan is a passionate educator, composer, and arranger. He manages the Symphonic Brass Ensemble Kensington Brass and has been involved with numerous chamber music ensembles. Ryan is the resident arranger for The Ensemble of the Golden Bough and has contributed compositions and arrangements to The Brass Academy. Since 2020, he has served as the ‘Composer in Residence’ for the National Children’s Orchestra and has created lockdown pieces for the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Brass Department. His music is published by Warwick Music, The Music Teachers Board, and Superbrass Publishing. Ryan frequently performs with the renowned Onyx Brass Quintet and has also collaborated with Superbrass.

Currently, Ryan teaches trumpet at Charterhouse School in Surrey and coaches for the National Children’s Orchestra and The Brass Academy courses.
