Philip started playing Solo Trombone with the Aldbourne Band as a teenager then studied Trombone and Piano at the Royal Academy of Music. 

Philip has spent over wenty years freelancing in London with the Orchestras, Ballet and Opera. Touring throughout Europe and the USA and performing in West End Shows.

Philip started composing just over 20 years ago, primarily as a hobby with a view to progressing towards a second career.

In 2009 Philip was lucky to win the British Trombone Society Quartet Composition Competition which has led to writing a piece for Trombone and Brass Band for Simon Johnson (BBCSSO) who recorded it for CD.

Philip has continued to write for solo and ensembles including string ensembles and Choral pieces and is currently working on a large scale work for Brass Band.
