Paul Hunt

Dr. Paul Hunt is Professor and the Head of the Department of Music at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Prior to moving to Manhattan in 1998, he served on the faculty of Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts, Bowling Green, Ohio, where he was the Chair of the Department of Music Performance Studies (1993-98) and Professor of Trombone (1983-1998). He received his BM and BME degrees from the University of Northern Colorado, MM from Youngstown State University, and DMA as well as the Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. Dr. Hunt was a former member of the Bowling Green Brass Quintet and the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, and for 15 years actively performed with the Toledo Symphony and as a free-lance trombonist in Toledo. He served as President of the International Trombone Association from 1998-2000.

Paul Hunt has appeared as a trombone soloist and clinician at numerous trombone workshops and festivals. He was featured soloist and clinician with the U.S. Navy Band for the Eastern Trombone Workshop, Washington, DC. He made his New York solo debut in 1989 in the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall with the New Music Virtuosi of Bowling Green. He performed as faculty and recitalist for the 1998 International Trombone Festival and as clinician and soloist for the 1998 British Trombone Society Trombone Festival, hosted by the Guild Hall Conservatory in London. He is an Educational Specialist and Clinician for Benge Trombones, United Musical Instruments Company.
