Daniel Eichenbaum (b. 1977 Atlanta, Georgia) earned his Masters degree in music composition at the University of Michigan where he has studied privately with James Aikman and Evan Chambers. The University granted him a fellowship for his studies while in attendance. Before attending the University of Michigan, he graduated at the top of his music school with a Bachelor of Music degree from Penn State University.
At Penn State, he studied composition and orchestration with Paul Barsom and Bruce Trinkley. Penn State's Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic Orchestra, and the University of Michigan's Concert Band have performed his music. The University of Warwick's wind ensemble (in Coventry, England) recently toured Europe, playing his music in Cologne and Brussels. Mr. Eichenbaum was a finalist in Schirmer's New Voices contest for band literature with his wind ensemble piece, 5th Avenue Rhapsody, which is published through Southern Music. The Music Box, a Columbine memorial piece, was premiered in June of 2000 by the Downtown Chamber Players in New York City.
He has taught composition for the past year at the Ann Arbor School of the Performing Arts and is now teaching in the Tucson, Arizona area. Recently, 'and the band played on' was published by Southern Music.
