Episode six of BUZZ21!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, step right up to another exhilarating episode of BUZZ21!, where we transform the pBuzz into the star of the show.

Today, Grant Golding masterfully orchestrates a trio of tunes from the musical extravaganza, The Greatest Showman. He also introduces us to another song that will be great for introducing your little learners to playing and enjoying music.

It's a session that goes beyond just playing notes; it's about creating moments that live in the heart long after the music stops.

Behind the scenes with AudioStretch

Grant takes us behind the curtain, revealing the magic of AudioStretch. It's like a backstage pass to the perfect pitch, essential for setting the stage for our first act, The Greatest Show, which ascends by a semitone. Then, This Is Me stands proudly in its original key, requiring no alteration – a tune ready for the spotlight. And for the finale, From Now On takes a step down by a semitone, completing our setlist with a sense of homecoming.

Stomping and clapping to the beat

But there's more to this show than just melody. It's about the stomp-stomp-clap of The Greatest Show, a rhythm that resonates with the heartbeat of our audience. Grant shows us how to weave these beats into the fabric of the tune, creating an ensemble effect that's downright infectious.

This Is Me: a pBuzz anthem

Then, for something a touch more challenging, This Is Me enters the ring. It's a rousing anthem that speaks to the soul, teaching it note by note, fostering a sense of pride and belonging with every breath and buzz. Grant encourages us to sing along, blending voices with the brass to strike a chord that echoes the resilience and spirit of every player.

The best day of your pBuzz life

Moving on, Grant unveils the playful riff of Best Day of My Life by American Authors. It's a tune that pushes the boundaries of AudioStretch, leaping up three semitones, but in doing so, finds a joyful pitch that makes the song come alive in a whole new way. It's a lesson in not shying away from experimentation, for the results can make a real impact on your students (and give your ears a well-earned break from Shotgun and Baby Shark).

The grand finale

Grant's methodical approach to these tunes, complete with backing tracks and harmonies, is not just teaching – it's an act of sharing joy, with a bit of razzle-dazzle thrown in for good measure. Whether it's the dramatics of The Greatest Showman or the buoyant optimism of Best Day of My Life, these songs are chosen to inspire and elevate the pBuzz experience from a lesson to a performance.

Adam is the Content Manager at pBone Music. This should mean that he’s the ideal person to write about himself, but he finds boasting in the third person a little awkward. He honed his word wizardry with a degree in English Language and Literature at the University of Leeds. He has since written copy for clients and businesses across the land, from awards to something beginning with “z”. He also spent a number of years as a musician. He has written pop songs and even jingles for kids, performed more first dances at weddings than you could shake a pBuzz at, and once played a gig for a pie company at The Etihad Stadium in Manchester. When he’s not reminiscing about those good old days, you might find Adam enjoying the football (although as an Everton fan, that can be difficult). He also loves spending time with his partner, Jen, and his family and friends, and sincerely hopes they feel the same way.
