In celebration of October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, pBone have launched an exciting new campaign in aid of The Christie, their long term cancer charity partner.
‘Pass on the pink pBone’ will see the award winning company fill one of their - pretty in pink - plastic trombones with the autographs of famous trombonists and celebrities from TV, radio, music and other media. During the next few months a single pink pBone will be shipped off to various locations around the UK and beyond in search of famous autographs.
pBone are asking each person that signs the instrument to share a photo of them with it using Twitter , email or posting it on Facebook for authentication.
Once the instrument is full of famous names, a commemorative book will be collated of all the photos, which will then be auctioned off along with the signed instrument, with all proceeds raised going to The Christie to support their work with cancer sufferers.
pBone inventor Hugh Rashleigh made the first autograph mark and will be sending the trombone on to internationally renowned trombonist Ian Bousfield, although the hope is that other names will crop up throughout the next few weeks wanting to share their support.
pBone hope to generate lots of support for creating this unique collector’s item and are calling for celebrities to come forward and participate in aid of such a worthy cause.
At the top of the target list is Radio 1 DJ Greg James, who earlier in the year hosted the pBone inventor Hugh and his band live in the BBC studios in London. Another recent celebrity to get their hands on the world’s most popular trombone was Karren Brady, who last month presented pBone with the Nectar Small Business Award for Innovation.
People can track the pink pBone as it makes its long journey around the UK and further afield by following the #pinkpbone and keeping up to date with @pboneofficial on twitter and /pboneofficial on Facebook.
The auction will be launched in early 2014 once the trombone is covered in famous signatures.
