Lightweight. Durable. Surprisingly powerful. The pTrumpet hyTech is changing the game for student musicians, schools, and even seasoned pros on the road.
Whether you’re in a beginning band, gigging across state lines, or picking up trumpet again after years away - hyTech fits the bill.
Listen to Grammy award-winning trumpet supremo David Longoria take hyTech for a spin:
Designed to feel and play like a traditional trumpet, pTrumpet hyTech gives students a smoother ride into brass playing without the bulk, dents, and drama of metal instruments.
With its brass-lined polymer valves, a carbon fiber leadpipe, and a comfortable lightweight body, hyTech makes it easier for beginners to focus on the fundamentals: sound and technique.
As trumpet educator Edward Maxwell puts it:
“It’s light to hold, but robustly built...the metal-lined valves work smoothly...I would happily recommend the hyTech as a light but robust, low-maintenance, easy-to-hold, free-blowing beginner trumpet.”
In a trial of the hyTech with students from beginner to more experienced students, the feedback was unanimous:
“It’s easy to blow and easy to hold.”
“It sounds good!”
“It feels the same to play as my brass trumpet but it’s lighter to hold.”
It’s not just easy - it’s confidence-boosting.
hyTech isn’t just for concert band. It’s increasingly popular in Modern Band classrooms and mariachi programs, where flexibility, durability, and ease of use are essential.
The horn’s eye-catching finish and even tone make it a smart choice for creative, contemporary music settings.
If you’re teaching trumpet outside of traditional band - or building a multi-genre program from the ground up - pTrumpet hyTech meets you where you are.
hyTech also has a growing fanbase among touring musicians who need a no-fuss, great-sounding horn they can rely on in a pinch. Weighing just over 1 pound and packed in a padded gig bag that’s carry-on ready, it’s the go-anywhere trumpet that doesn’t compromise on tone.
And if the worst happens on the road? No costly repair bill or hunting down a specialist tech. hyTech is easy to maintain and easy to replace, with spare parts readily available.
hyTech has also proven a hit with returning musicians - those picking up the horn again after years away. Its lightweight design reduces physical strain, and the smooth response helps players ease back into form.
Plus, let’s be honest: even experienced brass players don’t miss the dead weight of their old student trumpet case.
Lightweight & strong: Carbon fibre and plastic body with metal-lined valves
Easy to maintain: Plastic slides won’t corrode, no need for regular lubrication
Great sound quality: Even tone and projection throughout the range
Affordable: Budget-friendly without sacrificing build quality
Trusted by educators and pros: Designed to grow with the player
From band room to backstage, hyTech is a smart choice for modern musicians.

Adam is the Content Manager at pBone Music. This should mean that he’s the ideal person to write about himself, but he finds boasting in the third person a little awkward. He honed his word wizardry with a degree in English Language and Literature at the University of Leeds. He has since written copy for clients and businesses across the land, from awards to something beginning with “z”. He also spent a number of years as a musician. He has written pop songs and even jingles for kids, performed more first dances at weddings than you could shake a pBuzz at, and once played a gig for a pie company at The Etihad Stadium in Manchester. When he’s not reminiscing about those good old days, you might find Adam enjoying the football (although as an Everton fan, that can be difficult). He also loves spending time with his partner, Jen, and his family and friends, and sincerely hopes they feel the same way.
