Best Songs for Teaching Children at Home

Whether it's Randy Newman or whoever wrote 'Baby Shark', writing songs for kids is a true talent.

Of course, some parents may not be completely thrilled by listening to the same tune over and over again (again, we're looking at you Baby Shark). Kids' songs are a powerful tool to engage and inspire youngsters. They give children an introduction to music-making, as well as introduce new vocabulary, movement, and motor skills. But are kids' songs really educational?

Luckily, we've sifted through the plethora of pop on YouTube and selected a top ten list of songs for children that are clever as well as catchy. These tunes can give kids new insight into science, history, maths, and more. 

1. The Planet Song | 8 Planets of the Solar System Song for Kids

The Planet Song takes kids on an intergalactic journey through our solar system. This song introduces young learners to the planets, their order from the sun, and fascinating facts about each one. And with more than 160 million views on YouTube, it's obviously a popular tune with children!

Why it's great: This song transforms a potentially complex topic into an engaging experience. It helps kids remember the planets' names and order, and it could be the start of a passion for astronomy and science.

2. 10 Little Dinosaurs 

 

This colorful animated tune is a perfect track for toddlers and preschoolers, that transports children back in time to the era of dinosaurs. Kids love dinosaurs, and this tune introduces them to the different species, as well as letting them work on their counting skills!
