Originally from Hertfordshire, Mike studied trombone performance at the London College of Music gaining the GLCM graduate diploma. Following a further years study at Avery Hill College, London, he was awarded the Post Graduate Certificate of Education teaching qualification. Whilst in London he gained much performing experience, from orchestral to stage musicals.

His teaching career began in 1983 in Cornwall. The children were great but he had a problem understanding them sometimes! Before long he became Head of Music at Looe School and after three very happy years there achieved a promotion to Sheffield, again as Head of Music. Another new language to learn! The next move took him back down to the West Country, this time Devon. It was here that he teamed up with a teaching colleague and wrote numerous songs, several of which have been published.

In addition to trombone playing Mike has always been involved with choirs of one sort or another. Whilst in the West Country he was Musical Director of the Loveny Male Voice Choir, one of Cornwall's finest, and conducted them in a recording, a very successful concert tour of Prague and numerous venues within the UK.

Mike has been in Kuwait for six years and is Director of Music at The English School.
