Remko de Jager

Remko de Jager, born 1971, started his studies in 1990 at the Conservatory of Rotterdam under George Wiegel and completed his Master's Degree Cum Laude in 1998. He has also attended master classes with Michel Becquet, Bart van Lier and Victor Sumerkin.

In 1992 he won 1st prize at a competition of Young Music Talent of the Netherlands and, in 1994, 3rd prize at the international trombone competition in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia.

As a member of the Rotterdam Trombone Quartet he reached the finals of the prestigious Concert Artists Guild competition in New York and recorded the CD "Dioscuri".

Since 1997 Remko has been a member of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra with whom he has performed as soloist in the Double Concerto for horn and alto trombone by Michael Haydn.

Remko plays in various ensembles including the New Trombone Collective, the Doelen Ensemble, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Trombone Quartet and Domestica Rotterdam. He also performs as a soloist and can be heard performing Domenico Gabrielli’s Ricercare (Warwick Music) on the New Trombone Collective’s CD "Trombone".

Since September 2000 Remko de Jager has been professor of trombone and methodology at the Codarts Conservatory of Rotterdam.
